Trails and roads for Cruising around Salida. You don’t have to Mtn Bike to have fun biking in Salida. We have some suggested Salida rides for your cruiser/townie bike.
Salida is railroad grade flat for the most part, you can ride around easily. Cruiser (or Townie) bikes are a handy and fun way for the whole family to get around town for shopping, festivals, wedding parties, and to recreate on your vacation. Riverside to Franz Lake
The sound of water running in the shade could be one way to describe this lovely ride. Head out Crestone Ave and either drop down to Sand Lake and take the riverside trail to Franz or stay on CR 160 and drop down to Franz Lake. When you have gone around the Lake it is time choose your way back home.

Monarch Spur/ Milk Run Trail
Take the old Monarch Spur railroad grade west out-of-town and head back at the end or take a left hand turn onto the Milk Run Trail till it ends and then turn back for an easy coast back. This is a nice ride and can take you to Wal-Mart if you choose.

Hot Springs Pool
Ride through town on streets or take the Monarch Spur Trail to Holman Ave and turn rt (south) and ride to the Salida Hot Springs Aquatic Center on Holman and Hwy 50. Hot water from the Earth, how invigorating!

Elevation Beer Company in Poncha Springs:
The separated trail along C.R. 120 will take you most of the way to Elevation Beer Company, a brewery in Poncha Springs. Have a brewsky in their tasting room and then cruise back… downhill… to Salida.

Golf Course Loop:
From the Courthouse head west on Poncha Blvd then take Airport Road/ CR 140 to CR 144 then head back to town on CR 160 (also fun in reverse). Grab your clubs and head back for a game of high elevation golf!

Smelter Town/ Smokestack Loop
Ride out CR 150 northwest of town to CR 152 and back to see the famous Salida Smokestack experience some mining history of the Salida area. SalidaMuseum.org

Ride out CR 140 or CR 160 towards CR 160 turn onto CR 144 then turn west on CR 142. The cemetery is located on CR 142, it is beautiful and quiet there and an easy ride to get a little ways out-of-town.
